Treading Water in the Cesspool

This really should be a long post week, but I’ve had a shit weekend.  Somtimes you just have to give yourself permission to take it easy, and not stress about arbitrary deadlines that you’ve set for yourself.  So I’m doing that thing I just said.

I can’t currently foresee any reason why there won’t be a longer post next week, but then again I’m kind of shit at predicting the future, so take that as you will.

Breezin' on through ...

Made some good progress on the $work project this week, so I’m going to take advantage of the short week this week to just blow you off entirely, dear reader.  Sorry about that!  Still, next week is only a week away, as per usual.  So, you got that going for you.

The Shape of Things to Come

This week I’ve been concentrating on my middle child’s much-delayed birthday celebration: a one-shot D&D campaign that celebrates his love of shapeshifting.  Since it’s a special occasion, I’ve been trying to get really prepared and make it very special.  Perhaps after it’s done I’ll report on how it went.  Stay tuned!

Another month gone

Well, the first month of 2022 is behind us.  I have to say, so far I’m not impressed.  But it’s early days yet.  It might get better.

Day 3 of 4

This week I took Friday off in order to have a four-day weekend.  I’ve been taking advantage of those days to catch up on a lot of things I’ve been putting off lately, and I’ve been getting a lot of cool stuff done so far.  So I’ll continue the streak and not post anything here—other than this brief message, of course.  More exciting content next time, hopefully.

Anticipation of a More Exciting Installment

Originally, I had planned to just skip this week, due to the holiday.  But then I had a sudden inspiration for something I had started on a while back, so I’ve spent the last few days trying to put it together.  But it’s not quite done, and I don’t want to rush it.  So I think I’ll let it marinate one more week and ask you for your patience.  Can’t guarantee it’ll be worth the wait, but I can assure you it will at least be better than what I could give you this week.

The facts of the blog

You know, I was going to do a partial post this week, but I got sucked into a personal project that took up all my time today.  So, it’s very sad for you, but I personally feel like I got some shit accomplished.  You take the good, you take the bad, you take ’em both, and there you have: my blog.

Next week: less bad, more good.  Hopefully.

A birthday to end the season

This is my birthday weekend, the last such for the year.  So I took the day off on Friday and just completely screwed around for 3 days.  I’ve accomplished nothing, but, since that was exactly what I planned on accomplishing, I feel like I’ve done pretty well.  Hopefully a longer piece next week.

Last of the Red Hot Free Fridays

And here we are at the final weekend where I receive a Free Friday from my $work as a reward for surviving the pandemic.  It’s been awesome having a 3-day weekend every other week for a few months, and I shall certainly miss it when it’s gone.  But all good things come to an end, as they say, and all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.  Tune in next week to see how I manage that.

Staycation, All I Ever Wanted

This week, I not only have another free Friday, but most of my family has buggered off to go to aquariums and, eventually, cabins in the woods far, far away, while I stay home and take a week off from $work.  So I’m just catching up on all my outstanding stuff: gonna work on my Todo spreadsheet, put some work into my D&D campaigns, maybe do some light programming I’ve been putting off, and not write a blog post.  So far, so good.

A name by any other name would still be a day off

You know, my $work refers to this every-other-Friday-off plan as “Summer Fridays.” Despite that, it’s going to continue until September 24th.  Not that I’m complaining, of course ... I just like my designation of “free Fridays” instead.

All of which is to say, another free Friday weekend means no real post for you again.  One would think you’d be getting used to it at this point.  But, cheer up, faithful reader: next week will be better.  Surely ‘twill be so.

Another free Friday from the good folks at my $work, and another week of not much here for you to look at.  Just trust me that I’m making good use of the extra time to get some family stuff caught up.  And come back next week for a better post.

My 100th post about not posting ...

This week is another of those 3-day weekends my company is thoughtful enough to provide me.  In fact, I seem to have (accidentally or on purpose) managed to align my “short weeks” here on the blog with my “free Fridays” from $work.  A happy arrangement.  Anyhow, I’ve been working on catching up on a bunch of personal stuff, so no time for even a shorter post.  Tune in next week for something more substantial.  Probably.

Independence from blogging, apparently ...

Well, today I’m in the midst of a four-day weekend, because Friday was another “free Friday” that my company is giving us this summer to celebrate surviving the pandemic, and Monday is of course a holiday (even though technically Independence Day is today).  Given all that, and given that, despite my best intentions, I actually did manage to post a (nearly) full post last week, I think I’m taking the week entirely off.  See ya next time.

Paternal Indolence

Well, today is Father’s Day, and this past Friday was both a paid holidy (for Juneteenth) and one of the “free Fridays” that our company gave us off for surviving the pandemic, so I was instructed to relax twice as hard.  Sadly (for you), a double day off and Father’s Day in quick succession leaves little time for writing blog posts.  You’ll just have to try again next week.

Another week for wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming

Another tough week: I was sick a few days, and that $work project stubbornly refuses to be put to bed.  And, after spewing out nearly 12,000 words for those pandemic TV roundup posts, I’m feeling satisfied enough with my output to take a break for another week.  So I shall.

Word lag

Over the past two posts, I’ve written enough words for close to 8 normal-sized posts, so you get nothing this week (and possibly not next week either, if I’m being honest).  Plus it’s my baby girl’s birthday weekend, and, as awesome as you are, dear reader, you cannot compete with her power of cute.  So sorry; sucks to be you.

Let’s see what happens next week, shall we?

Well, I’m up in the game rotation again: time to get back to the Family Campaign.  My littlest one specifically requested it, so that’s a nice feeling.  Plus there’s some family medical issues flying around, and some work stuff ... anyhow, no time for a proper post this week.  So sorry not sorry.
